Ancient Acropolis of Trikastro

Ancient Acropolis of Trikastro

Near the old village of Trikastro there remain the ruins of the walls of the ancient acropolis, also known as Trikastro, which is believed to have been the summer capital of Pyrros, King of Epirus (312-272 BC). On the same hilltop there is a church dedicated to the Prophet Elijah, which was built in 1706 and contains wall paintings of that era.
